The revelation of the Triune God in the Sacred Scriptures constitutes a historical and on-going engagement between the Creator and the whole of creation. This workshop fully inspired by the different sources can help deepen our understanding of the Word of God and thus transform our way of life. It raises the following questions:
1. What is the Bible for you?
2. What Jesus meant?
3. What the early Church further understood?
4. How it fits in the Gospel: what the Gospel Writer further wanted to say through the episode or passage?
5. What do i have in common with the people in the passage i have read/heard? what can i learn?
6. From my situation i ask: what would the bible have to tell me? i “search the scriptures’ and what light it brings to my situation.
7. How to pray with psalms?
8. How to maintain friendship and contacts with the Bible?
Nota:
– For a reading follow a book through
– Take a gospel page after page and follow it
– Do read introduction to each book if your bible gives that
– Do not be afraid to read a book you have already read if you find it more helpful
– Read notes accompanying biblical passages
– Read Bible commentaries but never lose contact with the Bible itself.
I thank specially Fr George Corcoran, for his book the “the Way through the scriptures” that forms the main corpus of this workshop.
